Raquel Allegra’s Pre-Fall Collection for Lookbook Friday

H appy accidents and unexpected expectations are always cause for celebration; and in the case of Raquel Allegra, an aspiring songstress from California who discovered her latent talents of constructing garments from recycled fabrics, led her to explore a career path she had not considered, the world of fashion’s it girls have a new go to designer to champion. Hilary Duff and Fergie have both been spotted about town in H to T Raquel Allegra creations and I myself discovered Raquel Allegra via the online French it girl, Garance Dore. Not that moi is an it girl, but I do like to think I have an eye for fashion. In today’s Lookbook Friday we will be looking at Raquel Allegra’s 2015 pre-fall collection. Known for her deconstructive method and laid back Southern California vibe the new collection continues to embrace this aesthetic but also explores more classic silhouettes. A red knee-length dress with a raw-edged detail is an eye catching step away from the SoCal vibe seen in many of the other pieces, as is the velvet pants suit and the more eighties punk-rock leopard print mini dress and white lace number. A twist on the traditional wrap dress in textural print pattens gives the collection a vaguely seventies feel, and the expected tie dye is used in a number of pieces; from the dropped waist two piece sweater dress to the “ombre” t-shirt frock. Like a kaleidoscope, the color palette changes without notice from brilliant reds and smoldering purples and vibrant blues to more earth-toned shades of carmel, mustard and taupe. The combined affect is of a happy and independent spirit—a laid back romp of casual, wearable pieces that compliment the body and inspire the soul.
