Daniel Silverstain Spring-Summer 2016 Runway Show & Presentation

Yes Fashion Week is upon us here in New York. And, as is usually the case it is either the hottest day of the year or the coldest. Last time I attended Fashion Week in February it was eleven degrees with 30 mile an hour winds and a wind chill of minus ten. But as true hearted fashionista I braved the cold and headed out to see the shows. This week it is one of the hottest weeks of year with temps in the low nineties with seventy percent humidity. Yes I was sweating—very unfashionable of me.

Zara Suede Booties Just in Time for NYFW

Yes it is finally here, the start of NYFW and I will be attending a number of shows. And to that end of course it was the perfect excuse to wear something new. So last week on my lunch break off I went to do a bit of shopping in Soho where the office I work in is conveniently located. As I picked up a new top the week before and I thought a new pair of shoes could do the trick. I stopped in to ALDO first and tried on a pair of flats—they were a studded two tone number which is a knock off of the famous Valentino shoes.

Mulberry Fall 2015 for Lookbook Friday

A number of seasons ago the embellished motif trend was a fixture on all the runways—with decadent embroidered facades and layers of sumptuous textiles alluding to an indulgent world of leisure and affluence. This was followed by a more austere minimalist approach seen throughout the fashion world and which now seems to be giving way to a trend that is allowing for a bit more detail and flourish.

Ann Taylor Fall 2015 For Lookbook Friday

Ann Taylor has upped it’s chic cred over the past few seasons and has breathed new life in to the traditional office wear it is known for. Approachable, flattering and with hints of sophistication this collection is for the woman who can appreciate a classic but has a bit of an edge. With a just bit of a nod to the seventies, the pieces in the fall line up have a vaguely Annie Hall vibe.

A Day Spent on Fire Island with a Parisian Family

[dropcap custom_class="normal"]S[/dropcap] ummer is quickly coming to a close. The back to school commercials which have started to crop up, are sure sign the long days of sun and surf will soon be behind us. But with the three h’s raging and with another few weeks of August left to go, it was high time to head to Fire Island. My step family is in town from Paris and I have been quite busy with them, from Manhattan to Brooklyn to the sandy islands this area is known for we did it all.

The Row Pre Fall 2015 for Lookbook Friday

Known for their layered, boho urban aesthetic this collection stays in line with this approach but does so it a more streamlined manner. Hemlines, are long—very long. Waistlines are dropped yet trousers waists remain high.
