Alexander Wang’s rebellious spirit is evident in his pre-fall collection for 2016. Following in the direction on which he embarked on for Pre-Fall 2015 his collection for 2016 is a step even further to the puck rock left.
A rugged romance is at the heart of this earthy yet enchanted collection. Dark florals and…
This was a very busy week for me. Work was super busy and it was as you all know Fashion Week. I barely had time to sleep and I am looking forward to this taking a mental health weekend and will be doing exactly—nothing.
Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are looking forward to a brilliant and productive 2016. For the first Lookbook Friday of the year I am featuring Balmain’s Spring/Summer 2016 Pre-Collection. The pre-collection is a more toned down, streamlined collection then either the fall or the Spring 2016 lineup.
Last week I wrote about Cynthia Rowley’s Beauty The Game Face eye shadow palette, and today we are looking at Cynthia Rowley’s collection for Spring 2016. And looking at this collection it should come as no surprise that Cynthia and her daughters are avid surfers.
Enchanting, sexy and uber feminine Valentino’s Red line is a celebration of youth while unabashedly embracing the female form. And the collection for Spring 2016 is a playful expression of this girlie exuberance with sophisticated elements of quite elegance. Bows, tulle, satin, leather and lace used throughout the collection ground it in a textural landscape of tactile romance while delicate touches of embroidery and eyelet details lend an air of bohemian free spiritedness.
I think Balmain may just have brought sexy back. After seasons of minimalism and non body con looks Balmain’s pre-fall collection’s sophisticated take on the bombshell aesthetic is a sizzling sensation of modern day sex appeal. A cool toned ruby red dominates the palette in a luxurious sultry vibe which is accented with a shimmering jewel toned green, a rich mustard and lots of black and white.

This was followed by a more austere minimalist approach seen throughout the fashion world and which now seems to be giving way to a trend that is allowing for a bit more detail and flourish.
Alexander Wang has always kind of went his own way, and after seeing boxy, relaxed fit and minimalist garments marching down the runways for the last couple of seasons,
Areinvented classic often brings a blend of unconnected elements together in a new and unexpected ways; and this eclectic duality can certainly be seen in Diane Von Furstenburg’s Pre-Fall collection for 2015. With Michael Hertz in the role of creative director it seems the new collection has side stepped it’s sophisticated lady like elegance just a bit
Happy accidents and unexpected expectations are always cause for celebration; and in the case of Raquel Allegra, an aspiring songstress from California who discovered her latent talents of constructing garments from recycled fabrics, led her to explore a career path she had not considered, the world of fashion’s it girls have a new go to designer to champion.
