A bold fusion inspired skate goth aesthetic runs through the collection like a dark wave of insurrection
Alexander Wang’s rebellious spirit is evident in his pre-fall collection for 2016. Following in the direction on which he embarked on for Pre-Fall 2015 his collection for 2016 is a step even further to the puck rock left. A bold fusion inspired skate goth aesthetic runs through the collection like a dark wave of insurrection. The bondage elements are bolder this time around and play happily alongside the more approachable checkered print pattern found in a number of pieces. Hemlines run the gamut from micro minis to floor length with unexpected detailing like frayed edges, grommet boarders and peak-a-boo cutouts. Animal print also has a moment in this lineup with a standout classic leopard print coat that is effortlessly paired with a street cred ski hat and pencil skirt in a casually edgy vibe. Satin bomber jackets, traditional trenches and a Chanelesque tweed blazer balance nicely with the overtly not for the office pieces in a combined effort of gorgeous defiance.

April 1, 2016I’m really glad AMQ’s signature aesthetic is still being carried on. Totally coveting that black leather jacket in the second look.

April 1, 2016I love how his collection is never mainstream like the others and his is always a touch different and quirky. And yes, the first word that came into my mind was ‘gothic’ too!

April 3, 2016YASSSSS! To so many of these pieces. I don’t think I’ve ever fallen for EVERY singly piece in a collection before. That tweed jacket needs to get on my body.

April 3, 2016I just wish models could look happier. The bored, irritated look spoils the clothes. Besides, I got that look far too often when my daughters where teens.

April 5, 2016Those striped tights are very interesting. They remind me of Jack Skellington, lol! I wonder if I’d like them if I were to try them on. Hmm..
