A Michael Kors Parker, a warm fuzzy hat, and a Day at the Park

Anthropologie-hat

Y es winter is here and with it comes cold temperatures, gray days and parks that are closed. This park has a cute little dog park within it and beautiful dog statue. My friend Laurie and I wanted to shoot around the statue but alas this section of the park was closed. It could have been that it was thanksgiving day weekend, or maybe it is just closed during the winter months, but we had to settle for shooting outside the dog park, oh well there is always summer. And as you can see I am most certainly not wearing a summer outfit. We are talking full on winter bundling here. The hat which I wrote about in last weeks post is from Anthropolgie. It retails for $49.50 and is a bit more then I generally pay for hat but with it’s inner fleece lining and over-sized pom pom it was worth it. The dress I got second hand and the boots I picked up at The Rack a few years ago. The only thing I know about them is they are from Italy. I love these boots because they are high up the leg and have a boxy kitten heel. This type of heel can very hard to find in a boot. [blockquote] Seriously folks you do not want to hold up line of New Yorkers digging around for your metro card–Allie of ALLIE NYC[/blockquote] It seems everything is either flat or three inches and higher. I believe the heel height of these are 1.75 inches. And to me, a great height—high enough to get the effect of wearing heels but not so high it is hard or tiresome to walk. Plus I am already almost 5’8” so I do not really need to wear 4 inch heels. The long cardigan I picked up at The Loft a few weeks ago. They were having a %40 off everything sale and well, how could I resist? This cardigan retailed for $100 so I got it for $60.00. The light heather gray color works well with most other colors and it is very warm, which comes in handy as the office I work in is very cold.

And my jacket and bag are Michael Kors. The jacket I got online at Lord & Taylor and I got it on sale. It retailed for $280 and I got it on sale for $147. It is currently still on sale for $168 but I think they only have medium left. But I have seen it for sale online at other retailers. I love the double breasted buttons and cinched waist, though on me it falls a bit higher up then it should. And I wish it was longer. I would prefer a parker that fell right above the knee, but it is warm and the faux fur hood is so fun. I got the bag last year during the friends and family sale at Macy’s. It is your basic black satchel and has a pocket in the front as well as the back. It is cleverly hidden but there is a pocket under the big MK logo. I love this, and try to look for bags that have a lot of pockets and compartments. It makes life much easier when you do not have to dig around for your keys or your metro card. Seriously folks you do not want to hold up line of New Yorkers digging around for your metro card. I just flip up the front flap, slip out my metro card and I am good to go!

  1. I love MK, all pieces is very wearable and with low prices. In winter, we should stay stylish and cozy , it is not easy to achieve both two sides but we have to meet our need in style. I think you successfully achieve this point.

  8. I love the hat, even if it was a bit pricier … if it’s generally something that I know I will get a lot of wear form it, I think it’s worth it, especially if you love it. The coat is also a nice style, because of the belt! I love it!

  18. ooooohhhhh Allie! I love this post. You look absolutely lovely in this combo. My favourite would have to be the first pic and I am having my eyes fixed on these two items on you – The knit hat, so cute! and the comfy jacket!! I love for a fact that it has a clinched waist belt, looking so nice on you (though am sure it would look chunky on me since I am not tall, haha!)

Lovely weather there it seems, though I am sure it’s pretty cold. Hope you are gearing up for christmas holiday season already there!! Keep us posted on how you spend this special time of the year!

Have a merry merry xmas in advance and a happy happy new year 2015!!
