With a dreamy elegance and whimsical aesthetic of flowers and feathers Carolina Herrera’s resort collection for 2016 is a leisurely romp of sensuous sophistication. Artful draping and expert tailoring combine in an ageless effect where a seventies inspired flowing trouser set feels equally at home along side fifties era gowns and smart retro cut  A-line frocks and a two piece Jacqueline Kennedy worthy “suit”. The pallette of soft sorbets is balanced by more intense saturated tones of chartreuse, tangerine and navy, and give the impression of late day in April when the air first starts to turn warm and the blue of the sky begins to deepen. Spring is around the corner and this is reflected in exquisite prints of English Garden florals and a beautifully illustrated feather motif—over-sized and striking on gowns and then reappearing more refined in a delicate pattern of navy and salmon on party dresses and blouses. With a striking balance of soft floral prints, appliqué, and layered textures the resort collection is a hint of things to come with the spring lineup, and is a very lady-like entry in to the summer season.
