Walking the bridges of Paris, from Clover Canyon to Le Marais

Sharing some more snaps from Paris. Here I am standing on a Bridge over the Seine. I still had these fun sunnies.

Sharing some more snaps from Paris. Here I am standing on a Bridge over the Seine.  I still had these fun sunnies. And I am wearing my Clover Canyon jacket which you may have seen me in during NYFW which I wrote about in this post. On this day I paired it with an Alive and Olivia dress, my Adidas, my Trina Turk bag and these latex like leggings. The leggings were super cool and chic looking, but oh la la, they kept slipping down and I was forever having to pull them up. Quite annoying. I didn’t pay a lot of money for them but I am now on the lookout for another pair that fits better.

And this last shot, I am also on a bridge on the Seine. I am wearing a shirt I picked up in the Le Marais area. It is made by an independent designer whose line is called Wanted. I am loving the pink piping and the asian feel to this top. And as you can see, I wasn’t lying when I spoke about my stringy dirty hair. It was quiet the challenge. It is very windy in Paris, and with all the dust in the air from the sandy walk ways—well this is what you end up with. Good thing blowouts—I mean brushings are cheap in the city of lights.

A Simple Black and White Look for Brunch in Soho

Fashion - [email protected] - June 8, 2016

Last weekend I once again headed to Soho to meet fellow blogger Josephina of Josephina Collection for brunch and some shopping in Soho. I had a long week and was greatly looking forward to spending some time with someone who loves fashion as much as I do. We headed to the Mercer Kitchen for lunch

Last weekend I once again headed to Soho to meet fellow blogger Josephina of Josephina Collection for brunch and some shopping in Soho. I had a long week and was greatly looking forward to spending some time with someone who loves fashion as much as I do. We headed to the Mercer Kitchen for lunch and I had the Avocado Toast while Josephina had the Eggs Benedict, and after I caught a glimpse of what she ordered I almost changed my order. The Avocado Toast was not the most robust dish on the menu I must say. And the service was surprisingly slow. But the location and space itself was great. Plus we sat next two other fashion enthusiasts and had a bit of chat. One of them started a yoga business Mesh Yoga and the other started a site called Radiche. An online destination to learn about up and coming movers and shakers in tech, fashion, media and the like. That is what I love about New York and Soho, how everyone seems to be energized with a love of fashion, good food, and the better things in life.

As it was going to be a low key day with a lot walking I chose to wear something simple and made sure I was wearing comfortable shoes like my go to Adidas kicks. I recently picked up this Vince Camuto bag at Macy’s and as usual I got quite the deal on it. It was %50 off and then I got an additional %20 off for using my Macy’s card. It originally retailed for $250 but I ended up paying $108. It is perfect for summer and I am loving it. Both the pants and tee are from the Gap and the jacket is from Express.

I am done with stylists. I will cut and blow my own hair. I do a better job

The only caveat to a mostly fun day was that half the film that we shot I didn’t end up using because my hair looked atrocious. And that is because the blowout I had done that day was bloody awful. I generally do not like the way stylists blow my hair, and now that I could see the evidence in photos, my disdain has been reinforced. My hair looks better when I do it. I literally looked like I had wig on, and my hair looked flat and dirty. It is hard to tell in the shots I did post, but wow. Do any of you have this problem? My regular readers know I have struggled finding a good stylist. I swear no one knows how to do hair well in this city. And I am on a mission—I am not getting my hair cut for the next year. I am still dealing with the repercussions of a bad hair cut I got a year and a half ago. I am done with stylists. I will cut and blow my own hair. I do a better job.

A Cold Rainy Day in May and a Pair of Adidas Super Stars for Only $40

Fashion - [email protected] - May 16, 2016

Last weekend ended with another rainy day at the end of a very rainy week. I was not feeling inspired, and was actually feeling out right grumpy. I had been looking forward to a warm sunny spring day as the weather forecast had originally predicted, but nope it was gray, overcast and cold; as you can see here in this anything but spring like ensemble.

Yes that’s right I am wearing a winter coat, hat, sweater and jeans. The hat is from H&M and although I love the color it is not quite what I have been looking for, this is the second hat I bought that missed the mark. I am looking for hat that is more round like this one while the one I am wearing is more Indiana Jones. Oh well it didn’t break the bank. I paired it with this over-sized read too big sweater from the original Penguin line at Munsing Wear. My mom gave me this sweater as it did not fit her correctly. Luckily the non body con trend is still going strong so this sweater was spot on for a cranky no fuss kind of day. The jeans are from The Gap and were one of the first pair of higher rise jeans I have purchased in the last few months. I am purging my closet of all of my uber low rise jeans. How about you? Apparently everyone is doing it. I tried to fun things up with this cross body bag from GiGi New York, but the weather still left me grumpy. For the one bright spot in this look I tied on a pair Adidas Super Stars. Of course we all know about these super on trend kicks. And on that note for anyone looking for a pair of almost new Adidas give me a holler.

Almost new pair of Adidas Super Star‘s in size 6 for $40.00

Gap-high-rise-jeans

Almost all the reviews I read online said that these sneakers run big, but they DON’T. All sneakers run on the small side—these run true to size. I made the mistake of buying a half-size down and they were too small and they hurt my feet. There was no breaking these in. I ordered a new pair in my actual size and now they fit great and are super comfortable. And when I attended the NYC Style Collective Event, I spoke with Josephina of Josephina Collection and she had the same exact problem! I think it is because so many women are used to “vanity” sizing, but sneakers are uni-sex so none of that. So if you go a size down like you are use to doing, they will be too small.

I think it is because so many women are used to “vanity” sizing, but sneakers are uni-sex so none of that

But at any rate, I have a brand new pair of Adidas that have only been worn four times. I have the box they came in and the receipt from the store in Soho where they were purchased. I am selling them for $40. They are a boy’s 4.5 which is a woman’s 6. So anyone who is interested feel free to contact me. If you live in NY we can meet up and if you live out of state I will pay for shipping.

You would never know when we shot these photos it was May. This was a day for hot cocoa, cupcakes and a movie, which is exactly how my friend Laurie and I spent our day. We again headed to one of my favorite towns Huntington where one of my favorite blogger’s Shy Biker lives. We went to the Cinema Arts Center and saw Sing Street. An Irish movie that takes place in 1980’s Dublin and is about a young “lad” who has to leave his more posh private school and attend the rough and tumble Christian Brother’s public school and his dreams of being a rock star. It is not an in depth expose of the era and life in Ireland in the eighties. But rather a funny, warm and fuzzy feel good flick. If you have a thing for the eighties and eighties music or remember the eighties (I am looking at you Shy Biker) this movie is a lot of fun. Well I hope my next outfit post will be inspired by sunny days and summer weather. Stay tuned…

No I am not very good at hoops, or any sport really. Well frankly, I suck. But the sporty chic trend? Now that, I can embrace whole heartedly. And one of the emerging trends within a trend are Adidas sneakers. They have been spotted on such fashion heavy hitters as Leandra Medine as well as countless lesser known fashionistas. They were seen at Fashion Week in New York, Paris and Milan. Being a consummate New Yorker I am always on the hunt for comfortable shoes. I mean we walk everywhere—so comfort counts. In fact, the sneakers on the commute to work, pumps in the office strategy stared in New York. But now no need to ditch the sneakers when you get to your destination; because they are the fashion statement in of themselves. I think I am leaning towards the black and white Adidas. They would go with almost anything but the black accents will keep them from being mistaken for a different brand. After all they are MY ADIDAS.
