O One of the best things about living in New York is the shopping, and gets even better if you are lucky enough to work in Soho, though it can be a wee bit dangerous for your wallet. I had promised myself that I was not going to spend any more money in the next couple of months due to all the money I spent on the holidays, but needless to say—I fell off the wagon. The office I work in is located right on the edge between Soho and Tribeca, if I walk east I walk right into all the shops and boutiques and great cafes and restaurants. If I walk west I will find more take out places and not too much in the way of shopping. So most days this is what I do as I do not want to tempt fate, and I do want to be able to pay my rent. Well a few weeks ago I was being “good” and took my diligent westerly route on my lunch break, and as I hurried down the street on my way to a deli, I was stopped by a sandwich board in front of nondescript building advertising a sample sale. I initially kept walking, but yup, like the addict that I am, I stopped and turned around. “Hmmm” I thought to myself, “I guess I could just look”. It stated that it was on the 4th floor, so I pushed the door open, headed to the elevator and got off at the fourth floor. And when the doors opened I immediately recognized the logo and purple palette of the Rent The Runway brand! I had stepped in to their Soho location and New York office.
Rent The Runway is one of the hottest break out companies and success stories in the last few years. Launching roughly five years ago and offering their services online only, they now have brick and mortar stores in three major cities as well as styling services. And hold on to your hats ladies, but they are now offering a monthly service which is currently in beta mode. But for $49 a month you can rent three items at a time for as many times as you want per month. Um Ok wow. I just may have to look into this. But this could be the start of something, really good! But on the day I happily discovered this gem around the block from my office, I walked out with this $500 Clover Canyon Irish Box Print bomber jacket, which I now own and paid $79 for to keep as my pride and joy. This jacket is still available at Lyst.com for $154 which they state retailed for $650. So I really did get a great deal, and I just could not pass it up at $79. I felt so incredibly luxurious and fashion forward when I tried it on, there was another women shopping there as well and she kept glancing over at me with envious eyes. So out I walked with my magenta bag on a purple string. Seriously ladies if you have a special event to go to, or plan on attending Fashion Week and can not afford a new look for every show then Rent The Runway could just be your ticket, and with the new monthly service everyday could be a special event!

Cool jacket doll enjoy your day.
Girl, I feel like I haven’t visited you in ages! I love Rent The Runway, I use them for special events where I know if I purchased something, I’d never wear it again. I’ve noticed they rent more than party attire, but have never tried it! This jacket is hot!

That is a great deal! You do work in such a “dangerous for your wallet” shopping zone. I live walking distance from Soho and totally avoid going in that direction when I shouldn’t be shopping.
This jacket is way too beautiful and sounds like you stumbled on a deal worth spending some money on. Can’t wait to see how you wear it!! xx
I cannot believe you only paid $79 for this gem! What a steal! And I am a total shopping addict too so I feel you. It’s so hard to resist!

I got an email about that this beta trial but never knew anyone who took part of it. Thanks for writing this, I may have to consider it again.
I hear so many great things about Rent the Runway, I’ve just never had a need for it (yet…). That jacket is so gorgeous, though, and at such a good price from what it retailed at! Love it!
So want to try Rent the Runway. But can I just say, I am in love with this jacket!

haha Allie, don’t most of us fail at this >_<
Always seems to fall into the trap!
I bet if I had loads of cash on me, I would have walked EAST way many times I could afford *_^
But look what you have landed yourself with? This is a nice piece, one of a kind and I bet it stands out whenever you put it on!
Rent The Runway? this is my first time hearing it and I think from what you described, its quite an awesome idea! I think we can rent handbags for events here, not too sure about a similar concept like Rent The Runway though. Cool.
Hope you are turning heads wearing your bomber jacket! Have a fabulous rest of the week, my friend. It's almost midnight here, am listening to the soulful voice of Sam Smith singing "Leave Your Lover" while writing to you here! What a joy.
Big hugs,
Jeann
