Fashion Week may be over here in New York but as we know it continues abroad and as any self respecting fashionista knows, it is really Fashion Month. London Fashion Week has just wrapped and with Paris Fashion Week close behind it this wonderful month of fabulous fashion frenzy continues.
And so my coverage of NYFW continues as well and this week we will looking at the second Nolcha Fashion show I attended. The second show I attended was the Collective show and this season the focus was on China, and this season’s show The China Movement Collective featured emerging designers from China.
It opened with NIKISTAVIA, a clothing line of personalized haute couture, or customizable high end wear. I think my heart just skipped a beat, gorgeous breath taking clothes made to my measurements? Yes please!
and it hit me—all the hard work and the long hours and the dragging myself to sit in front of the computer after working a nine hour day—this is where I belong, this is why I do what I do, this is why I push myself.
The show was a stunner and as I stood behind the third row taking pictures, with the music pulsing, and the models strutting down the runway I experienced a rush of adrenaline, and it hit me—all the hard work and the long hours and the dragging myself to sit in front of the computer after working a nine hour day—this is where I belong, this is why I do it.
From the exquisite fabrics to the striking jewel toned prints and painterly graphics to the contrasting pale pastels, gossamer details, bell sleeved shifts, ruffled cocktail dresses and peplumed frocks, this is one righteously royal collection, fit for the most fashionable of queens. I didn’t want it to end. And rest assured girls (and boys), this is one designer with a bright bright future.
