A Shein Ruffle Top and a Day Out in South Hampton

Summer is nearly over and I always have mixed feelings about the demise of this season. I will miss the warmer weather and longer days and spending time at the beach. But I am equally excited about fall which has traditionally been my favorite time of the year—sans the decade when I lived in Seattle and it just meant the start of the very long rainy season.

I love the crisp air, the fall colors, and the sense of change in the air. We use to call it sweater weather—that time of the year when it is cool enough for a sweater but not cold enough for a coat. Those days are still aways away so I am still enjoying the beach life so to speak. And I did indeed wear this look to the beach, though much later in the day at sunset. This look is semi new: the top from Shein is new, but I bought it last year on a whim.

Yes it is fast fashion but I must admit the low price tag did play a role in my impulse purchase. It is very comfortable and quite light for summer and cool with the open shoulder.

Though being fast fashion the ribbon came out of the collar so I just had to tie it on independent of the top, but you still get the effect. I paired it with my super high waist wedgie jeans from Levis and my western zebra print boots from And Other Stories. The bag is from Paris and was a gift from my step family when they were visiting last week. The sunnies are from Forever 21 and the hair clip is from Zara. And I have to say it was a bit of a miss.

The design is cute but it does not lay flat against your head and has an arched clip which I did not care for. I think maybe it was intended to hold a ponytail? But I tried that as well and it did not work. I wish it was designed to lay more flat. I only paid $5.99 for it so at least I did not break the bank.

I wore this look for a day in South Hampton. I had a lovely day of window shopping, dining at a curbside cafe and sitting on the beach. I even got my makeup done at Trish Mcevoy. South Hampton is a lovely quaint, seaside town and is very picturesque. And the homes here are quite grand and beautiful, all hidden behind tall topiary walls. It is like being in a maze; a quiet green maze. A world apart really. A magical and very expensive world. But I can afford a day trip to this rarified magical setting.

I am surprised that the top is from Shein as the quality looks really good. And I agree with the hair clip, it doesn’t seem to rest well on your hair.

I love how you played with proportions and well as pattern mixing with this look Allie! The hair clip is cute even though it didn’t really sit right. Can’t tell so much from the photos and at least you didn’t pay much for it.

I love your outfit! I love the tiered ruffles, print, colour, the look of the fabric of your blouse, and the complementary contrast of the blouse with the high-waist Levis blue denim jeans. I also love that bag! You looked fabulous on the sidewalk on the South side of Nugent Street (7th photo) in Southampton. I noticed Stitch Hamptons Boutique (stitchsouthampton dot com) in the background. Fancy! It’s been a while since I’ve shopped in Southampton. I used to love shopping in Complements Lingerie on Main Street (now closed, although there is still a Complements in Bridgehampton which I also love). I also remember getting doughnut holes from Crutchleys bakery in Southampton (also now closed) when I was younger.
Yes, things do get very pricey on the East End during “the season”. The traffic is daunting near the Bridgehampton Commons and Marders right now what with the Hampton Classic in full swing on Snakehollow Road in Bridgehampton.
It is unsettling how rapidly time flies by. It was Spring just yesterday and now Labor Day is almost upon us. Hopefully there will be better bargains and less traffic after that, but I’m not looking forward to cooler weather. Time just goes by way too fast.

I have never visited South Hampton but it seems like a place I would enjoy. Love the top.

I am love with the ruffle top, I want summer to come back and these rains to go.. though its a bit sunny today. That s the problem with these barretts and hair pins they sometime don t sit properly or sometimes it is just so small than in pictures that they disappear in our hair

The blouse you bought last year is not only beautiful but had also a really good price! And I understand why you love fall but also why you enjoyed this day in South Hampton!

I love your ruffle top! It looks very stylish and I love the off shoulder look. The color and pattern looks great as well. The pairing with the bag is a big hit! Even though I try to limit fast fashion purchases as much as possible, I still find myself getting my hands in one once in a while. $5.99 is great!
