Summer is nearly over and I always have mixed feelings about the demise of this season. I will miss the warmer weather and longer days and spending time at the beach. But I am equally excited about fall which has traditionally been my favorite time of the year—sans the decade when I lived in Seattle and it just meant the start of the very long rainy season.
I love the crisp air, the fall colors, and the sense of change in the air. We use to call it sweater weather—that time of the year when it is cool enough for a sweater but not cold enough for a coat. Those days are still aways away so I am still enjoying the beach life so to speak. And I did indeed wear this look to the beach, though much later in the day at sunset. This look is semi new: the top from Shein is new, but I bought it last year on a whim.
Yes it is fast fashion but I must admit the low price tag did play a role in my impulse purchase. It is very comfortable and quite light for summer and cool with the open shoulder.
Though being fast fashion the ribbon came out of the collar so I just had to tie it on independent of the top, but you still get the effect. I paired it with my super high waist wedgie jeans from Levis and my western zebra print boots from And Other Stories. The bag is from Paris and was a gift from my step family when they were visiting last week. The sunnies are from Forever 21 and the hair clip is from Zara. And I have to say it was a bit of a miss.
The design is cute but it does not lay flat against your head and has an arched clip which I did not care for. I think maybe it was intended to hold a ponytail? But I tried that as well and it did not work. I wish it was designed to lay more flat. I only paid $5.99 for it so at least I did not break the bank.
I wore this look for a day in South Hampton. I had a lovely day of window shopping, dining at a curbside cafe and sitting on the beach. I even got my makeup done at Trish Mcevoy. South Hampton is a lovely quaint, seaside town and is very picturesque. And the homes here are quite grand and beautiful, all hidden behind tall topiary walls. It is like being in a maze; a quiet green maze. A world apart really. A magical and very expensive world. But I can afford a day trip to this rarified magical setting.
