PFW STREET STYLE PART TWO-SHOOTING IN DIRECT SUN LIGHT THIS WAS A CHALLENGE

It is 2019 and starting the new year off with part two of my PFW SS2019 street style coverage. Again I don’t recall what show I was shooting. I knew at the time but with that awful cold I did not keep track. Between being sick and the troubles with the AIR BNB host I was off my game and not on top of things. I was happy just to get to the location and shoot. And when I got to this location I may as well of turned around and went sight seeing instead. There was almost no place to shoot, the sidewalk was narrow and it was off a busy intersection, and there was no shade so I was shooting in direct sunlight at the height of the day. Ugh.

I often look at Adam Katz Sinding’s photos and there are times when he is shooting at the height of the day and the sun is out yet his photos are not blown out or too dark in the shadows. I don’t know how he does it, I still have much to learn. The upside is I discovered another part of Paris I had not seen before. My step family lives three stops from the last stop on the ten line east of the center of Paris.

it really is astounding how beautiful Paris is, you kind of feel like you are on the set of a movie

This location was the very last stop west of the city of Paris, so on the opposite end of the ten line. And, I came to find out that my step family use to live in this neighborhood! It is beautiful neighborhood with some wonderful views of Notre Dome and a stately museum with a beautiful garden that I walked through when I was done shooting. It really is astounding how beautiful Paris is, you kind of feel like you are on the set of a movie. Maybe this is what heaven is like, minus the riots.

  11. Fantastic captures Allie! The fashions of PFW somehow always look more vibrant than other cities to me for some reason. I find that underexposing by a half to a full stop can help to offset the glare of the midday sun.

  12. It’s never easy indeed. Anyway, lots of lovely ideas you have here. These people are super stylish!

  23. I adore Paris. I have a cousin who moved to work there for a year and never came back. He’s been there for over ten years now too. It is such a divine city. There is a lot of unseen ugliness though. A lot of discrimination too which is sad. BTW when you find out a way to take photos in the sunshine let us know!

  24. Shooting in direct sunlight is so hard, but your photos turned out really good! I love all the different textures, patterns, and silhouettes of the outfits. I’ve never been to Paris before but maybe when everything calms down I will.
