Like a menagerie with a wild untamed allure and an underlying touch of darkness Marni’s collection for Pre-Fall 2019 is artfully unrestrained. Military influences can be seen but they are tempered by a free spirited sense of abandon and primordial beauty. Hemlines are long and skirts feature deconstructed panels of leather in a GOT tribal kind of way.
Layers of woolly blanket scarves are worn like badges of courage. Traces of animal print are scattered through out the line up while untempered patchwork pieces in pastels featuring patterns that resemble broken rocks and deep forest fauna are blocked and pieced together in an unexpected collage of joyful creation. Medieval inspired hip belts adorn straight forward and minimalist frocks and bottoms and are contrasted by the more utilitarian boots and over-sized paper bag styled hand bags.
With a balance of royal elegance and a raw sense of serenity this is a defiant collection that does not apologize.

May 24, 2019I’d definitely wear the first and third outfits, mostly because I have a few items that look this way. The shoes are not for me but I really like them in these looks. To be fair, I’ve always been keen on Marni’s style aesthetic–so I am loving the juxtaposition of the (fabric choices); wild and tamed, texturally. There’s clarity in the colour palette as well.

May 24, 2019That first look really stole my heart. That colourful but mostly golden coat is absolutely divine…and the matching skirt is so beautiful. Such a gorgeous outfit all together. The other creations are just as interesting. The colours and the patterns in this collection are very eye-catching.
The last two looks have this fabulous post-modern chic vine, and while they are minimalist in colour, they are bold in their cuts and designs. I really dig them as well.
