My regular readers know that I have been speaking as of late on the impact that our purchases have on the environment. For anyone who read Monday’s post knows that even buying highlighter is fraught with ethical conflicts. It can seem over whelming and daunting. I have also spoken about my desire to be more sustainable in my purchases and doing more pre-loved shopping and buying quality items and items that are made sustainably and ethically. So today I am super excited to share with you the lookbook of a new brand DOEN.
DOEN was found in 2015 by sisters Margaret and Katherine Kleveland. It is their desire to bring the aesthetic that they love: vintage California, to the women of today and to do so by also empowering women and producing the clothes ethically, without exploitation, and causing harm to the environment. DOEN is a collective, and it strives to have women running the company in all aspects, because as we know; even though women’s clothing is predominantly worn by women, there are still very few women at the heads of fashion houses.
I love when I can recommend a brand for both ethical and aesthetic reasons. Some of you may have noticed a trend with my Lookbook Friday choices: lots of ruffles and flowing garments. As we are moving into summer I find that this style of clothing is some of the most comfortable to wear on those sweltering days. This is a vibe that is super on trend and DOEN has much to choose from if you like this sort of thing.

I love that these gorgeous designs are made sustainably and ethically by a fashion house headed by women.
These wonderfully feminine Doen designs by the Kleveland sisters are a real treat to look at, must feel wonderful to wear, and look perfect for summer.

What a beautiful collection and I love the vintage, classic vibe. I don’t shop for clothes regularly anymore but when I do I make sure it’s a piece that I can wear all the time and not just a passing trend.

I absolutely love the vintage boho style od this lookbook. All the clothes are so gorgeous! Wonderful blouses and dresses in particular. I like this brand even more now that I know it strives to empower women and be environmental and ethical in production.
