SMALL SPACE DESIGN HACKS AND AN ADDICTIVE YOUTUBE CHANNEL

Being a graphic designer I am a very visually focused person. And it always amazes me how the same space or same four walls can be transformed in to a totally different experience all based on how the space is visualized and laid out. I am one of those people who cant’t work in clutter. I need the environment around me to be organized and preferably attractive. I had at one point briefly flirted with the idea of going in to interior design so it is a passion for me.

the primp Your Home series is so well done and does not feel corporate at all. In fact I though it was the editors personal channel

And with the world of YouTube it seems anyone’s passion is a click away. From photography to makeup to software I have learned quite a bit from YouTube. Anytime I want to know how something is done, I look to this valuable resource. So last week when I was thinking about different ways I could improve my space I headed to YouTube and to my delight I discovered the Primp You Home series from the Chatelaine channel. Chatelaine is a Canadian lifestyle magazine.

So if you are a fan of HGTV and like makeovers you may find yourself on a bit of binge

The Primp Your Home series is so well done and does not feel corporate at all. In fact I though it was the editors personal channel. I binged this series and watched about eight videos in row last week. I just couldn’t get enough! So if you are a fan of HGTV and like makeovers you may find yourself on a bit of binge.

However, unlike HGTV which often features married couples with substantial budgets, this series is geared towards people living on their own with limited budgets in small spaces. Much more approachable with hacks and design ideas the average person could easily implement with limited means. I hope you find this channel as aspiring as I do!

  1. I am a HGTV addict! LOL! Thankfully my husband loves watching them with me too…or at least he said so. HAHA!

  2. Oh you’re right, that really WAS a good video! It makes me want to rearrange all and any decor around me. I love how details of where to purchase certain pieces are included too (IKEA is literally treasure trove, haha!)

  3. Yes it’s amazing the things one can learn from Youtube these days.I’ve always been interested in interior design and this sounds like exactly the type of series I could easily get hooked on. Thanks for the introduction!

  4. This was a helpful video Allie. Sometimes it is hard indeed to figure out what to do with the corners. Yesterday I flipped my photos around, got rid of some things and I must say, my corner is looking minimalistically nicer. Ha!!

  9. Very useful! Small spaces often occur in houses. For example having huge living room and a bit spacey bedroom my office is tiny!

  10. I also love home decor and I think I would also appreciate this channel. But I think I will skip it for now as I may become addicted! LOL.
