Yes, another installment of Paris Fashion Week street style. This was shot outside the Rick Owens show. This was the last show I shot. I went to the Under Cover show but shot that on my vlogging camera. I started to lose the light toward the end when I was shooting after the show let out. But there was enough light so all was well and then I stuck around and waited for the sun to go down so I could seer the tower all lit up. Did I mention I love Paris?

Her collection for Spring/Summer 2017 stays true to her roots, but it also offers the wearer more modern approachable garments that can easily fit a contemporary lifestyle

In todays Lookbook Friday we will be looking at another runway show for Oxford Fashion Studios at Paris Fashion Week SS 2017. Jeanine Clarkin is a designer based out of New Zealand who is best known for her Maori inspired street wear. Combining traditional Maori art and design as well as tribal patterns and women’s fiber art of the Wharenui and reimagining these influences to create current wearable fashion.

Her collection for Spring/Summer 2017 stays true to her roots, but it also offers the wearer more modern approachable garments that can easily fit a contemporary lifestyle. With a palette of red, black and white the pieces are striking yet also have an air of comfort and familiarity. Minimalist coats with cape tops and unadorned collars are punctuated by tribal pattered belts and beaded closures. Staying on trend with layered sheer pieces which can found on tops, jackets and jumpers keeps the collection in a more up-to-date vein. And the head pieces which are a nod to festival wear are also in line with the traditional Maori dress and such a great way to combine tribal traditions with fashion forward looks.

Shop Style Social House Event Across the pond in Paris

As I mentioned earlier this week I attended the Shop Style Social House event in Paris. I went to the one in NYC and so I was super excited to attend the event in Paris

As I mentioned earlier this week I attended the Shop Style Social House event in Paris. I went to the one in NYC and so I was super excited to attend the event in Paris. I was meeting Josephina of Josephina Collection at the event who also attended the Social House event in New York. My step brother was kind enough to travel with me on the metro as this would be the first time I would have taken the metro by myself.

we had quite the enjoyable time, and marveled at how cool it was that were both in Paris together, a bit surreal for us

Though I did by myself on the way home—with a migraine. Not the easist of feats. He came up to the event and it was quite amusing for him to be at such a girlie event. He did’t stay too long, but what trouper. Josephina arrived a short time later and we had quite the enjoyable time, and marveled at how cool it was that  we were both in Paris together, a bit surreal for us.

The event was slightly different then one in New York, in that they let you wear the clothes at the event itself for photo shoots. Where as in New York you borrow the clothes to shoot at a later time and to attend the shows. At the Paris they also let you borrow the clothes to wear to Paris Fashion Week but as I don’t live in Paris I thought it was great that the let you wear the clothes at the event itself. They also had brunch at the Paris event which they don’t in New York. They do have hair and makeup stations like the New York event, which I was super happy about as I could not use my curling iron, and my hair was looking a bit straggly. But after I sat down at the hair station I had big bouncy curls and felt much better about myself.

The event was held at a five star hotel in an upper floor suite with a terrace. And there was plenty of light for shooting. Though with a 50mm lens, it was a bit tight to shoot indoors but I did manage to get a few decent shots. And I as was heading out, I snapped few shots of a couple of fellow attendees. Still my favorite thing about blogging—shooting street style, I love it!
