ACID NYC was the second to walk in the main show. This is their third season walking for Nolcha. Founded by Evelyn Luna and Scott Chester ACID NYC is a culmination of years of varied artistic and creative backgrounds and the coming together of two supremely talented designers. Evenlyn Luna spent 13 years on DVF’s design staff going on to become Director of DVF’s textile department and textile product manager at Victoria’s Secret.

Scott Chester an industrial designer who studied at the CCS College of Automotive Design and product design at Pratt Institute opened his own studio (ACID-Arielle Chester Industrial Design) in Brooklyn, NY to design custom furniture for New York City clients. Combing their passions for all things design and focusing on apparel, ACID NYC was born.

I had the pleasure of attending their Spring show which you can read about here. Known for creating color-infused, textural garments featuring distinctive statement making prints this season was their finest yet.

The nineties are back and defiantly so—from futuristic Matrix like prints to velour track suits and punky tank girl ensembles this is the nineties done right. Track suits are having a moment, and the offerings from ACID NYC’s latest collection should please both the relax fit crowd and those who prefer their track suits a bit more close to the body.

Another vibrantly beautiful, stand-out collection from this dynamic duo

As are capped sleeved cocktail dresses and fitted tank frocks as well as traditionally cut suit dresses. The sporty chic vibe is evident, and is expressed in a two piece jogging skirt set, printed leggings, cropped tanks and a gorgeous quilted cropped bomber jacket. And the show stopper has to be the leather vest and topaz colored “chrome” belt.

The accessories this season are also note worthy—from prism printed cross body bags and clutches to frayed denim over the knee boots to cocktail purses in a silver hexagonal like print, it is all in the details. Another vibrantly beautiful, stand-out collection from this dynamic duo.  To read more about ACID NYC please visit them at Acidnyc.com

The last group to walk for Nolcha’s One’s To Watch” show was the Stevenson University Showcase. The showcase featured a collective of students who were showing their take on the LBD (little black dress). Stevenson University located in Baltimore County, Maryland offers a BA in Fashion Design and from what I saw at the show, it must be an excellent program. So for any of my readers that live in this area and are considering studying fashion design this may be a school you will want to consider. To find out more about their program head StevensonUniversity/FashionDesign and to learn about the collaborative show click here.

The fourth Designer to walk for Nolcha’s One To Watch show was Chèlbè which means well dressed in Haitian. Chèlbè was founded by Diana Delva who grew up in Stamford Connecticut where she reached the height of 6’1” by age fourteen. It was struggling through this awkward age at 6’1” that inspired Diana to create Chèlbè a line of clothing specifically created for women who are 5’11” or taller. Models that stand 6’ or taller walked in the show further emphasizing the essence of the brand. Creating stylish and uncomplicated clothing for the tall woman who can often find it difficult to find fashionable clothes was a dilemma Diana understood well, and with her label Chèlbè she is meeting a need that is so often over looked. The third to walk in the “Ones To Watch” show was the Chinese label Just In Case. The brand was founded by Chou Yu-Ying who was the winner of Elle’s 2015 New Talented Award of Taiwan and the 2016 Men’s Uno Next Asian Top 5 Fashion Designers. With the Just In Case label Chou Yu-Ying combines eastern and western influences as well as traditional and contemporary takes to create dramatic street style inspired clothes that express the DNA of the brand which is the eclectic  melding of eastern and western styles. The collection for fall 2017 has a noticeable goth edge to it, while embracing the over-sized ethos of urban street wear and a nod to the the rebellious spirit that is at the heart of the brand.
