A Textured Vest From Mango—Put Your Best Vest Forward

Yes Fall is finally here in NY and one of the things I love to do when the weather is so delightfully crisp and inviting is to stroll the streets of Soho on my lunch break. Seriously girls it does’t get any better then this. I love to people watch, window shop and get inspired by all the wonderful street style around me. And the other day on a particularly lovely afternoon I spied a young women in a camel colored knee-length vest worn over a long sleeved blue and white stripe shirt, which she paired with some distressed jeans and a cute pair of black ankle booties. I took a mental snap shot of what she was wearing so when I get around to picking up one of these vests for myself I will have an idea on how to style it. In fact, I was so inspired by her outfit I decided to pull together a look for you my lovely readers.

The look worn here by blogger Kimberly of the blog Penny Pincher Fashion is similar to the look I saw on the streets of Soho. Her top is actually a one piece! How cool is that? I was wondering how she managed to get it to fit so perfectly without any bulging or creasing which can sometimes happen when you layer shirts. Unfortunately this shirt by Dorothy Perkins is sold out, but this embellished collar top is still available and it is only $37.00. It is not as fitted as the two-in-one top, but I kind of like the more relaxed fit. I decided to change things up a bit with my styling and went with this textured vest from Mango in white. I love how the texture gives it a more chic expensive feel. And instead of booties I added these suede lace up heels in rust from Top Shop. So gorgeous right? The clutch is available at Far Fetch and is currently selling for $71.00, quite a steal for the likes of this well-heeled retailer. Then I added an over-sized gold cuff  from Bauble Bar and presto, you have super fun look that is affordable and comes straight from the streets of Soho.

  3. I have completely forgotten about Dorothy Perkins until this post! I have a couple of dresses from the brand and they are so comfy to wear and in true British style too. Shame that the top is sold out, it’s so pretty!

  8. I love to people watch, but more so in other countries than my own. I love the above look you created, I can only imagine what the outfit you described must have looked like on a NYC street.
