As I mentioned earlier this week I attended the Shop Style Social House event in Paris. I went to the one in NYC and so I was super excited to attend the event in Paris. I was meeting Josephina of Josephina Collection at the event who also attended the Social House event in New York. My step brother was kind enough to travel with me on the metro as this would be the first time I would have taken the metro by myself.

we had quite the enjoyable time, and marveled at how cool it was that were both in Paris together, a bit surreal for us

Though I did by myself on the way home—with a migraine. Not the easist of feats. He came up to the event and it was quite amusing for him to be at such a girlie event. He did’t stay too long, but what trouper. Josephina arrived a short time later and we had quite the enjoyable time, and marveled at how cool it was that  we were both in Paris together, a bit surreal for us.

The event was slightly different then one in New York, in that they let you wear the clothes at the event itself for photo shoots. Where as in New York you borrow the clothes to shoot at a later time and to attend the shows. At the Paris they also let you borrow the clothes to wear to Paris Fashion Week but as I don’t live in Paris I thought it was great that the let you wear the clothes at the event itself. They also had brunch at the Paris event which they don’t in New York. They do have hair and makeup stations like the New York event, which I was super happy about as I could not use my curling iron, and my hair was looking a bit straggly. But after I sat down at the hair station I had big bouncy curls and felt much better about myself.

The event was held at a five star hotel in an upper floor suite with a terrace. And there was plenty of light for shooting. Though with a 50mm lens, it was a bit tight to shoot indoors but I did manage to get a few decent shots. And I as was heading out, I snapped few shots of a couple of fellow attendees. Still my favorite thing about blogging—shooting street style, I love it!

  2. Allie, your photos are so great and I think it’s so awesome that you and Josephina were able to hang out together, and at the same kind of event as in New York! That is so freaking cool!

  5. This looks like an excellent event and it was interesting to hear the difference between a french event vs an NYC event.

Paris metros really aren’t fun and it’s a bummer you had a migraine. I hope you felt better soon!
