Style on the street otherwise know as street style as we all know is so having a moment. And this is one of things I enjoy the most about shooting and blogging. So a few weeks ago when I was shopping in Sayville and spied Pattie her lovely retro look I just had to stop and snap her. She had just stepped out of the vintage boutique Paper Doll Vintage and with her beautifully patterned dress in pink and white, her show stopping yellow hat and red and white saddle shoe pumps she was a breath of fresh air admist everyone else’s decidedly more dreary duds. Add a mid-century red patent leather bag, an over-sized pearl necklace and crystal bracelet and Pattie’s winning smile and you have one retro chic young woman.

Originally from Las Vegas Pattie moved to New York to study at Columbia University to pursue a post bachelors degree. She currently has a degree in research and experimental psychology and worked in the research field for many years. But vintage style and retro fashion has always been a passion for Pattie. She credits growing up in Las Vegas for sparking her interest in the the glam looks of the nineteen forties, fifties and sixties. In particular the nineteen fifties which were especially quintessential in regards to Las Vegas.

As teens my best friend and I would often dress up like Marilyn Monroe, Bettie Page, or Jane Russell

She says “As teens my best friend and I would often dress up like Marilyn Monroe, Bettie Page, or Jane Russell. As I got older I found photographs of my great grandmother, and her style has inspired me as well.” Pattie also states that her style has been evolving and recently “I have been steering more towards a thirties-forties look which I believe has been inspired by my curiosities of The Great Depression and World War II. History has become more interesting as I’ve gotten older,”

Pattie currently works as a live in nanny and also sells vintage on the side, spanning the eras from the nineteen twenties to the nineteen nineties. And her passion for vintage fashion is obvious from her wonderful style. So glad I got to meet and shoot her!
