his past weekend was beautiful here in New York. Blue skies, sunshine, warm weather and no humidity. I met a friend for dinner and a movie and we decided to see Closed Curtain at The Film Forum. The Film Forum is in a fun and picturesque part of town which surprisingly was not crowded. Summer in NY is hot and many people flock to the beaches and Fire Island, though there were certainly plenty of tourists about, but after all it is summer in New York By alimackin@gmail.com

appy Throwback Thursday everyone! Here is a picture of my kitty, Chloe when she was about six months old. She liked to sit on my desk while I was working and she would sleep with me at night— sleeping on my chest and waking me up in the morning by licking my face. or anyone not living in a cave we are all well aware of the turmoil happening around the world. And for many of us this turmoil is something that flickers across our television screens which we can easily dismiss with a flick of the wrist. But for the people actually living in these tumlotous circumstances there is no “getting away from it all,” there is no vacation from life. ast weekend a friend and I took a road trip out to the east end of Long Island and headed towards the North Fork. We decided to stop at a park/camp ground called Wild Wood State Park. For my New York based readers this is a fun one day trip and a nice break from the hot and hectic pace of NYC in the summertime. It is about an hour and half drive, and well worth it. They also have camping facilities—but they do not have cabins, it is strictly trailers or tents. By alimackin@gmail.com

n the last few years the fashion world was twice shaken to it’s core by unexpected suicides. First in February 2011 with the death of Alexander McQueen and a second time earlier this year by the death of L’Wren Scott. On the surface both of them seemed to have it all. Success, money, relatively good health and recognition for their work. In both cases they had experienced some upset and turmoil in their lives prior to their deaths. By alimackin@gmail.com
