A few weeks ago my step family from Paris arrived in town and took New York by storm. Well ok that may be a wee bit of an exaggeration but they ( and I ) toured New York like happy tourists. The sun was shining, the skies were blue, and the weather could not have been more corporative. We walked everywhere! In fact one day we walked from 34th street and 7th avenue to 92nd street and fifth Avenue. Whew! We cut across through Bryant Park,  then up fifth avenue, strolled north through Central Park and visited the MET and the Guggenheim. We lunched at the waters edge in Central Park. Stood in awe at the grand Egyptian exhibit at The MET and walked in circles at the Guggenheim. And of course we shopped. I mean how can one walk up fifth avenue and not shop? We ended our day at the Roof Garden and Martini bar at The MET. I must say they were quite impressed with this. And I gave myself a much deserved pat on the back. And for my New York readers—you must stop by this rooftop cafe. They serve wine and beer, light snack foods and of course martinis. The floor is covered in faux grass which encourages impromptu picnics and of course there is the panoramic stunning views over looking the park. A truly wonderful way to spend a summer evening in New York.

We also hit the beach, took some day trips out east and took a tour of Soho  as well. It was wonderful visit and I wished they could have stayed longer. What comes next? Well I hope to be the one who travels across the pond. I have Paris in my sites…summer 2015—Paris or bust!

Although my sister Tracy, and I have started saving for our future Paris trip! This November we will be in NYC, any tips or suggestions?
