Longchamp Fall 2019 For Lookbook Friday

Delafontaine’s grandfather may have founded the company but she is no entitled slouch steeped in nepotism. A talent in her own right she studied fashion design, originally specializing in children’s wear and spent some time working for BonPoint before taking the reigns at Longchamp.

Launching footwear in 2012 and ready to wear last season, she more or less single handedly took the leather goods company to the next level; creating a 360 branded experience. And wow, you would think this fashion house has been designing apparel for decades not a few years with the first pieces debuting in stores in 2006.

The fall collection for 2019 is a stunner. And while the 2018 collection was beautiful and offered wearable feminine pieces with modern edges and romantic seventies inspired looks, the collection for Fall 2019 is decidedly more sophisticated and has put the brand on the fashion map if you will. Madam Delafontaine’s grandfather would be proud indeed. To say she knocked it out of the park would be a bit of an understatement. At once urban and edgy the lineup is also romantic and unabashedly feminine in a bold, powerful yet elegant way.

A black and white logo pattern sets the collection apart from last falls lineup and sets the stage for this seasons collection. This bold on trend pattern shows up on skirts, bombers, bags, trousers and blazers. A smart choice and impeccably executed it is hard to miss this statement making textile. The edginess of the black and white gives way to soft topaz, rust, caramel, tan, and burnt orange in painterly retro prints and diamond patterned homespun textiles seen on flowing seventies style retro frocks, mini dresses and skirts.

You will also find over-sized lace, touches of leather and leopard print and the occasional ruffle. While maxi-dresses dominated, hemlines are shorter with bouncy mini skirts offered in a variety of textures from pleats to leather and lace. The footwear, predominantly boots stays firmly in the seventies retro vein. And then of course there are the bags…I would like one of each please.

I could go on and on, but suffice is to say Longchamp under the guidance of Sophie Delafontaine while be turning heads for the foreseeable future.

  16. I really like the direction that Longchamp has headed under the design direction of Sophie Delafontaine. This collection is a great combination of classic and eclectic with many wearable pieces.

  17. Very cool proposal! I must confess I lost track of Longchamp for a few season, there is a general idea that they are more related to leather pieces and this kind of accessories, but I like to see how they’re stepping on the next level and bringing up garments in such vibrant colors!
