#BLOGGERSONDUTY SELMA OF LASELMASTYLE

If it is one thing all bloggers have in common it is passion; be it passion for fashion, art, beauty, photography, food, or interior design bloggers devote hours and hours a week to their passions and in some cases even while holding down a full-time job.

Such as the case with Selma of LaSelmaStyle.com. I met Selma a few years ago through the NewYork City Style Collective and I remember being eager to meet her after following her blog and Instagram feed and keeping up with her fabulous shoots. Selma has great style and is not just another pretty face.

Though fashion is a true passion for her, Selma instead chose to dedicate her life to helping others and went to school for Social Work

Born in Kosovo she immigrated to the U.S in 2004 with her parents and siblings. Settling in the New York area Selma was exposed to many different cultures and life styles in addition to the customs of her home country. And of course being in one of the most fashionable cities in the world, it is no wonder that fashion lit a spark in Selma. Though fashion is a true passion for her, Selma instead chose to dedicate her life to helping others and went to school for Social Work. She works full=time as a social worker but still does fashion on the side part-time.

Today, when she is not working at the hospital where she works with children and parents of under-served communities you will find her on the streets of New York donning the most fashionable of attire which she posts to her fun and highly addictive Instagram Feed.

I was lucky enough to attend NYFW with Selma and I shot her between shows in downtown Manhattan. I had a great time shooting her and as they say the camera loves her, and I think you will too. So be sure to read on for my Q&A with Selma and if you are a blogger in the New York City area and want to be featured be sure to reach out.

1) What inspired you to go in to social work?

A. My first psychology class in College and I had this desire to help children improve their lives at the same time made a decent amount of money. Furthermore, something else that inspired me is the book called “A Child Called It.”

2) Fashion and being an influencer and social work seem to be on the opposite sides of the spectrum how do you balance the two?

A. It’s very challenging. i work as a LMSW full time SUNDAY-THURSDAY. Therefore, I’m left with two days off. Hence one day has to be used for coffee meetings, photoshoots, events and content creation.

3) What fashion item could you not live with out?

A. A black pair of ankle pants. You can pull any look for any occasion with a black pair of ankle pants.

4) What prompted you to start a blog?

A. Since I was in school for a completely different major I decided to use blogging as an asset to expose my love for fashion.

5) If you did not live in New York what city would you live in and why?

A. LA and simply because of the weather!
