Yes all the fluttery gossamer textures and touches are still there, but added to the mix are over-sized man tailored garments that give the collection a decidedly defiant feel.

Feminine mystic could be an apprope description of Nicky Zimmermann’s offering for Fall 2017, known for creating frilly bo-ho inspired clothing, the look for fall 2017 has a bit more of a masculine edge. Yes all the fluttery gossamer textures and touches are still there, but added to the mix are over-sized man tailored garments that give the collection a decidedly defiant feel.

Said to be inspired by old photographers of collage students in the 1920’s where young woman were depicted wearing frilly dropped waist dresses with boxy mens styled coats over them, this lineup does indeed walk the line between the masculine and the feminine.

Though distinctly more girly then tomboy the collection is a beautifully romantic offering of multi-tired dropped waist dresses balance by boxy elongated mens inspired suits and pretty sensual frocks and overtly sexy thigh-high leather boots.

Ruffled shoulders, tiers of pleats and billowing lace sleeves come together with form-fitting wrap styled dresses of interlocking lace and floral patterned silky fabrics. Add over-sized shearling coats in pale pastels, buttery soft turtle-neck tops and sparkling sequins and this lineup is at once romantic and provocative.

  3. I’m not sure how I feel about this collection, honestly the one word that came into my mind is ‘frumpy’ but again, I am not well verse about fashion. xx

  4. Zimmermanns designs always blow me away. I can definitely see the 1920’s inspiration in the drop lengths. So dreamy and beautiful. I love the chevron print. I don’t even like chevron yet Zimmermann has made it feel fresh and modern again

  5. What an absolute marvel, in my opinion– I would entirely wear all of the white pieces. I just live the elongated illusion it gives paired with edginess and feminine lacey bits. x/Madison

  9. Love this collection! Glorious workmanship and fun details, so overtly feminine.. Love the thigh high beige boots, and pink and peach dresses! Cool contrast of the oversized coats! Sorry I miss commenting on some prior posts. I am catching up with reading them though. Love the MDW post, fabulous with the hat and Shein blouse, and hat in the air! Thumbs up to the art director!
