Recently my office moved to the Flat Iron area of the city. This is one my favorite areas of Manhattan and I walk down this block everyday on my way to work. Last week after work I met up with Rowena of Rolala Loves to go to a event for Origins. I chose to wear this lovely palm leaf maxi dress from Shein. It is super comfortable and quite the head turner. Right? This pattern is also found on a number of other items so head to Shein.com to take a look.

I got so many compliments on this dress at work, and a number of my fellow employees asked me where I got it

I got so many compliments on this dress at work, and a number of my fellow employees asked me where I got it. I paired it these embroidered loafer mules from Steve Madden. The elephant detail is what caught my attention, I adored elephants as a child so I couldn’t pass these up when I saw them in the window. To complete the look I added this gold box clutch from Max & Enjoy. Isn’t it gorgeous? I like how it picks up the gold in the shoes and compliments the green in the dress. Such a chic bag, I will be taking this with me to Fashion Week on both sides of the pond!

Street Style How To: The Flared Pant with Diona of The Golden Diamonds

Fashion - alimackin@gmail.com - March 2, 2015

[dropcap custom_class="normal"]S[/dropcap] kinnies may have dominated for the last decade or so, but it seems designers are ready for a bit of change as flares and wide legged trousers were all over the runways. I for one am totally on board with this trend and I am excited to change up my look a bit. Flares can be a bit tricky to wear—just go to Pinterest and type in “flare pants” you will see what I mean.

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”]S[/dropcap] kinnies may have dominated for the last decade or so, but it seems designers are ready for a bit of change as flares and wide legged trousers were all over the runways. I for one am totally on board with this trend and I am excited to change up my look a bit. Flares can be a bit tricky to wear—just go to Pinterest and type in “flare pants” you will see what I mean. Leave it to a fashion blogger to get this trend right. This Diona from the blog The Golden Diamonds. I love the simplicity and the effortless aesthetic of how she styled her look with her flared trousers from Steve McQueen. Using the basic black wide legged pant as a base and then adding a flowing white blouse and a pop of color with the red clutch is all she (and you) need to look right on trend without looking trendy.

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”][/dropcap]If I were styling this look for spring I would wear a lose fitting bow blouse in a soft beige like this one from Top Shop, I just love the bohemian romance of a bow blouse which is perfectly suited to a flared pant. I would swap out the black pumps for nude pumps like these from Steve Madden and I would keep the pop of color but would do a peachy spring tone instead of red. I love this clutch from Ted Baker with the snake skin print back—what a fun way to add a bit of edge to this decidedly feminine look. The gold “Call of the Wild ” bracelet from Nasty Gal brings a bit of bling to the look, plus it is only $14.00! Finally, to bring this look together I would keep the make up simple and go sans eye shadow—just lots and lots of mascara, and a right from the runway bright lip color like this one from Bobbie Brown . Seriously, keep it simple, keep it chic and you too can be a trend setter that others will want to follow.

Cut-Offs Styled Two Ways For Summer 2014

Fashion - alimackin@gmail.com - July 7, 2014

[dropcap custom_class="normal"]C [/dropcap] ut-offs are a classic summer fashion statement, or at least they have been since the late 1940’s. They can be dressed up or down, they can be worn longer, or uber short, or somewhere in between (my preference) and they can be worn with tights for cooler weather. But today we are going to focus on how to style them for summer. I would imagine most offices do frown upon wearing denim cut-offs to the office, unless you are lucky enough to work for a fashion company.

But today we are going to focus on how to style them for summer. I would imagine most offices do frown upon wearing denim cut-offs to the office, unless you are lucky enough to work for a fashion company. But when the clock strikes six and it is time to step out from behind the computer and head out for a date with your guy, nothing is sexier then a pair of cut-offs. Add a feminine bow tie blouse, a pair of strappy sandals, a little bling at the wrist and swipe of red lipstick and viola—sex bomb alert! Seriously doesn’t Aimee of Song of Style look oh so sexy in her cut-off look?
But what if you are strolling around downtown doing a little sight seeing and shopping? Well you are going to want to keep it comfortable, like Jennifer Grace did of Native Fox. The denim on denim trend is super hot right now, but with summer heat upon us you will want to swap out the long sleeve button down for a short sleeve version like this one from Top Shop.  And I love these slip-on boat shoes from Steve Madden, a nice alternative to sneakers right? Keep the belt wide and simple, this one from Michael Kors should do the trick, and with a fun little charm at the end you will still feel like a lady. So, how do you style your cut-offs? Would you wear them to the office if your office has Casual Fridays?
