Chloé Resort 2016 for Lookbook Friday

Fashion - [email protected] - June 19, 2015

[dropcap custom_class="normal"]T[/dropcap] he Chloé aesthetic is certainly my aesthetic. I love the independent yet girly vibe of the brand. And the Resort Collection for 2016 fully embraces this aesthetic and adds a new bohemian twist to the looks. From the over-sized flare jeans to the studded man tailored trousers to the flowing eyelet dresses and repeated use of leopard print, the line straddles the fence between boho chic and London Mod Carneby Street style.

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”]T[/dropcap] he Chloé aesthetic is certainly my aesthetic. The soft palette of beige, cream, dusty pink, black, white and gray gives the collection a dreamy renaissance feel. The opposing  dualism of billowing  feminine silhouettes with the more man tailored pieces speaks to the independent beat the brand marches to, plus you will never be bored. Feeling girly—throw on one of the layered ruffled dresses. Feeling a bit more rebellious? Those man tailored studded trousers and a moto jacket will have you covered. Feeling sophisticated? The black sequined top and flowing lace skirt will have you feeling like you are having a red carpet moment. And who wouldn’t want a moment like that? Zadig & Voltaire “Arty, Rock and Gipsy” for Lookbook Friday

And get this—there is Zadig & Voltaire store a few towns away from where I live, in a mall! Um what? Seriously where have I been? Perhaps it is because Zadig & Voltaire are a french based company and originated in Europe, but still. I mean wow, I could actually shop at one of their stores and I don’t have to get on a plane? Well sign me up. So in honor of this great, (albeit I may be the only one) discovery, in todays Lookbook Friday we will be looking at the company’s latest collection which is described as “Arty, Rock and Gipsy”. This brand and this collection are youthful but it is not quite as youthful as say the look-book I featured from Wild Fox a couple of weeks ago. It is also not too minimalist or edgy, the pieces are approachable yet a bit quirky. We are not seeing super boxy cuts, nor uber body con silhouettes. This collection embraces a happy chic middle of the road fashion forward vibe. Slouchy tops, tapered yet relax fit trousers, shorts that are short but are not hot pants. Boxy and flouncy mini skirts, maxi skirts and drapey dresses that could double as cover ups lend a vaguely hippy element to the looks. While the simple tees and unfettered cuts give the line it’s sporty feel. I love this[/one_half][/row_fluid]

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”][/dropcap]balance of semi preppy pieces mixed with the more bohemian elements—If Anthropologie and J Crew had twins they would name one Zadig and the other one Voltaire. With an occasion appearance of rock inspired pieces like the metallic pants and the leather tee, this line more then embodies the description of “Arty, Rock and Gipsy”. And if you want to know if there is a Zadig & Voltaire near you, be sure to check out their website at ZadigandVoltaire.com and I for one can’t wait to visit one of their stores!

Cried Jan, who envied her sister’s on trend fashion sense, poor Jan—I am sure we can all understand her frustration—the 70’s aesthetic is not always the easiest to pull off. Wide legged pants, crazy prints, a kaleidoscope of color, and an abundance of accessories, it is hard to know when too much is—too much.

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”][/dropcap]But the 70s boho trend is big for spring, and after the over-sized, minimalist, boxy silhouette that has dominated the last few seasons—it is a refreshing change. So for those of you that want to embrace your inner Marcia Brady, or the edgier Anita Pallenberg, this is one trend you will want to get on board with. And after a decade of skinny jeans being a staple in one’s closet, being able to change it up with a pair of high-waisted flares is a super chic and easy way to dip your toe in this trend. You can wear them with a boxy top, or a traditional chambray button down shirt like this pair from Mango. Or you could wholly embrace the trend and wear them with a bow blouse, suede coat and floppy hat. You could also pair a traditional chambray shirt with a knee length suede skirt like this one from Theory. With its camel color, pemma suede and button detail, it has the 70’s vibe all sew up. The full-on 70’s aesthetic may be a bit much for some, but incorporating one two pieces that suggest this aesthetic is a safer way to try your hand at this. This bow blouse from Top Shop, is worn with a faux fur bolero jacket and faux leather leggings for a

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”][/dropcap]modern twist on the trend. Another way to try this trend and still look modern is to use a long, poncho style, shawl wrap sweater like this one, also from Top Shop, as the focal point of your look and pair it with skinny jeans, chunky booties and a crop top. Top it off with a wide brimmed hat and you will have a look that is fashion forward and won’t look like a costume.

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”][/dropcap]Ok these looks  from Zara are so Marcia Brady I suddenly have the urge to break out in to song and proclaim “It’s a Sunshine Day!” I assume everyone knows what I am speaking of, if not click here. Can you dig it?

[dropcap custom_class=”normal”][/dropcap]From fitted high-waisted flare jeans, to wide leg trousers to suede coats and boots, and “flood” pants, to print bow blouses, peasant shirts, skirts with button details, to ponchos and asymmetrical fringe dresses, this is one trend that is both romantic and edgy. And I for one am in the mood for a little romance, after this harsh and dreary winter it is exactly what I need right about now.
