H ello all, I am sharing with you today another addition to my coffee table book collection, as my regular readers know, I am slowly building a library of coffee table books to use for my future home. I love buying these books—I get such a rush when I purchase one, l love feeling like a I found a treasure and I get so excited thinking about how I will style them in my space. This book is from Rizzoli and is written by the legendary designer Oleg Cassini. Cassini was known for his sophisticated and dramatic sense of design and for his breathtaking wedding dresses. He was also known for dressing celebrities and high profile women like Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis and for the A-line sheath dress and the empire strapless dress. [blockquote]I get such a rush when I purchase one, l love feeling like a I found a treasure—Allie of ALLIE NYC [/blockquote]Cassini was a true pioneer and left a lasting legacy in the world of fashion and we can still see much of his influence today, as the strapless wedding dress continues to dominate the industry. This book is full of beautiful imagery and photography and features photos by such esteemed photographers as Patrick Demarchelier, Irving Penn, Milton Greene and David LaChapelle. In addition to Cassini it  also features dresses from such designers as Dior, Chanel, Armani and McQueen. Along with the sumptuous imagery the book chronicles the history of the wedding dress in modern society and is the go to book for anyone interested in designing wedding dresses for a living. Me? I just think it will look beautiful on my coffee table and since I use to work at a bridal magazine it is kind of my duty to own this book.

It retails for $65.00 and is worth every penny and if you ask me is quite the bargain. This book was published in 2011 but there is also an updated version which came out in 2014. So if this book entices you the way it did me, check it out at Rizzoli and be sure to have a look around. They have thousands of books to chose from and they even have a “Fashion and Beauty” section. So, what are you waiting for?

  8. First of all, your photography in this post is stunning. I have never thought of purchasing a fashion/beauty book before, for some reason it has never attracted me. Things have definitely changed now and I am more curious about everything fashion and beauty related.

Looks like a really good book that well worth the price, that’s a really good find, Ali.

This will be hard for you I predict …
You may want to style it on your coffee table open..

  11. That book looks absolutely fantastic! I’m sure the pictures alone make the book worth it 🙂

  12. I actually have a problem with coffee table books. I must have all the books! No joke. If I see one I have to buy it. If someone photographs one, even if it’s in the back of the corner, unfocused I still have to search for it and have it. I’ve had to stop buying them though. I’m also in the process of finding a place and came to realise how difficult it will be for me to move them all without causing damage (and without obtaining a million boxes for them all lol). It’s been pretty painful and my wishlist on an online book place I purchase from is growing and growing…
