NYFW

Well NYFW is in full swing here in New York and no, I am not attending the shows, I did not get my act together in time, but I hope to have all my ducks lined up for the next NYFW. Getting in to NYFW can seem a bit daunting, but when attending the LUCKY Fabb conference last year I chatted with some fellow bloggers and was surprised to learn that is is not as difficult as one might think. Easy? No, Impossible? Certainly not. So today I decided to share a fun and informative post by a blogger by the name of Ashely Gaga. She attended the IFB conference this past spring and ended up sitting front row at a number of shows. I do not think it will be quite this easy for the rest of us, but Ashley brings up a very important aspect most of us overlook – networking. Really, think about it, the job you currently hold regardless of what it is, how did you get it? Did you apply to an advertisement? Or did you find out about the position through someone you know, or through a friend of a friend, or a former colleague? It seems anything you want in life is going to require a bit of networking so the sooner we all learn these skills the better. It worked for Ashley and it can work for you. You can check out her post on her site Ashleygaga.com and check out this video too, it is about getting in to London Fashion Week but the same rules and tactics apply. And I will certainly keep you posted on my progress. And let me know about yours.

  1. I’m so bad at networking. Truly. It’s terrible.

  2. Ever since watching the first episode of Project Runway I’ve always wanted to go to NYFW it looks amazing and it would be so cool to see a Fashion show in person – I hope you manage to get in, if not this year then definitely next year!

  3. I hope you get to go next year. It should be fun. I’ve enjoyed watching the live streams. But there’s nothing like being there. Great post.

  6. I was invited to a few NYFW parties but couldn’t attend any of them because of my bad ankle so I’m hoping to get my act together when the fall shows roll around. I definitely need to check out Ashley’s tips. I tend to forget about the importance of networking sometimes.
