I am not sure if the words lady like could still be used to describe Carven’s resort collection for 2016. Feminine yes, girlie most definitely, but this collection has a decidedly edgier feel then the brand was previously known for. I always like to think of resort as pre-spring, though some have said for Carven their resort line is really their junior line. Either way this collection is not to be missed and certainly does have a young, hip, fashionably smart approach. With pastels, neutrals and jewel tones bumping up against hot saturated shades of tangerine, and brilliant green, the pieces in this line embrace a seventies aesthetic in a uniquely vivid parade of color combinations. Leather makes an appearance in impeccably fitted jackets and skirts that are simultaneously modern with an obvious vintage sensibility. Much like the happily clashing color sequences, prints and textures mingle in a unexpected but chicly harmonious way and balance out the flat planes of color found in a number of the looks. Silhouettes are slim and body conscious and a nice step away from the more relaxed fit looks we have been seeing through out the fashion industry the last few years. Minimalism is peppered with understated texture in pieces like the long sleeved, ruffled “striped” cropped pull over and the gray aline pencil skirt. Add some vividly colored slim fit flares, seventies inspired button up skirts and hot pants and mini skirts that are not afraid to show a little leg and you have a collection that resonates with vitality and youth.

November 13, 2015I wouldn’t describe the collection as ladylike, I see it as retro but hip and edgy. I’m not familiar with Carven at all to be honest but I do love what I’m seeing here.

November 13, 2015Love this collection. I adore that luxurious red coat. i agree, it is nice to see some slimmer shapes, easier to wear for the average person, if there is such an entity. I adore the camel outfit too, this table is a favorite of mine. Alas, I do not own any, but am inspired by the look.

November 16, 2015Can I have that 2nd look please? Honestly, if it wasn’t for that warm spell we had this weekend I would find this depressing (heading into winter) but I guess I still have remnants of the sun in me because looking at this is inspiring :)!
