Yes Fashion Week is upon us here in NY and I am attending a number of shows this evening. But today we are looking at one of my favorite designers for Lookbook Friday, Stacey Bendet and her eponymous fashion house Alice + Olivia. With it’s distinct A+O edgy it girl mainstay, the brand is a reflection of Bendet’s own eclectic personality and her varied passions.
For fall 2017 this mindset is embraced whole-heartedly and presented to the viewer is a luscious juxtaposition of romanticism and punk-inspired defiance. Silhouettes are long and flowing with ruffled layers, double paneled evening gowns, generous midi skirts, and wide legged trousers.
Though this romantic idealism is tempered by more street-wise influences
When skirts are short and fitted, they are paired with loosely draped capes, elongated embroidered car coats and billowing pussy bow blouses. Textures also collide in a barque-era fashion with it’s lace infused statement sleeves, exquisite patterned floral reliefs, and sumptuous fabrication.
Though this romantic idealism is tempered by more street-wise influences like the multi-colord fur bomber, the distressed dark wash uber distressed jeans and leopard print coat. Add a seventies era Halston like gown and sequined trousers and you have splendidly opulent yet contemporary collection.
