#BloggersNightOut With the NYC Style Collective and Rebecca Minkoff in soho

I love being a blogger, have I ever mentioned this? You get to attend fashion shows, you meet lots of wonderful people, you have a creative outlet, you are able to share your love of fashion with like minded individuals, you learn new skills and you get to go to lots and lots of fashionably fun events. Last Thursday I attended such an event for a #bloggersnightout at the Rebecca Minkoff store in Soho. Hosted by the NYC Style Collective it was a glorious night filled with sweets, champaign, photos ops and of course shopping. We all received %20 off full priced items and %25 of all sale items. Needless to say I spent a bit more then I intended but it was so worth it. I bought a black bow tie blouse and a quilted cross body bag in pale lavender just in time for Fashion Week! I have been on a mission to step away from fast fashion and acquire more high-end garments and accessories, and I think this was quite a good start. Don’t you?

It was a beautiful night and many of us ended up outside, and being in Soho again I was inspired to shoot—and this is another thing I love about blogging—I discovered I love photography and I really enjoy shooting people. Nataliya the blogger behind Style Tomes and the founder of the NYC Style Collective was such a sport and was totally up for an impromptu photo shoot.

We decided to shoot in front of the window display next door and the striking dramatic lights really added an interesting element to the photos and helped add some needed light. I was using my new 50 mm f1.4 lens and I could not believe how much light was available while still having a fairly fast shutter. I am so glad I spent the extra money on this excellent lens. I hope you enjoy looking at these photos, and for any New York based bloggers out there that would like to work together just reach out and let me know! And for anyone interested Nataliya is wearing a Donna Karen dress. Perfectly chic for summer isn’t it?
