This does not surprise me in the the least. Fashion Week is an event and it is about more then just viewing the collections. Yes, that is the main reason for attending Fashion Week but it is not the only reason, and in many ways the attendees themselves are now just as important to the overall event as is street style photography and video footage; with many of the attendees donning the labels walking the runway. This can not be captured remotely. I am not sure what the new normal will be, or when we will get back to the umm “old normal“. But I do know that sterile shows held remotely will never capture the joy, excitement and creative buzz a traditional in person fashion show can generate. After all; passion, joy and the creative spark can not exist in a vacuum. Without the breath of the denizens of fashionistas who breath life into the industry, it will only die out and be a shadow of itself.
I hope you enjoy these photos from happier times and my captures of a traditional Fashion Week event. Yes I will be watching the shows, and dreaming of a time where we can again embrace Fashion Week with all our love and support.

I love your photos! It is hard for to do such things remotely. Take a concert for example. You can almost always hear the music better on a digital recoding you would listen to at home. But that’s not the reason to go to a concert. You want to share the excitement, soak up the vibes, etc. I’m sure fashion shows are much the same.

I know, this was one of the most weird seasons, nothing was totally face-to-face/real shows but not 100% digital either and I think there are still rare seasons to come :/
Anyway I loved that you took the energy and your camera to go around and capture some looks! Some of them really surprise me and I love that assistants put a lot of effort and creativity in their looks! I hope you manage to shoot more looks in the upcoming months, despite the situation!

NYFW Fall 2020 looks pretty interesting with the street style. The safety pin gloves are interesting. This kind of reminds me of my high school days when my peers would try to have a rocker/goth look. Pretty cool! Ooooh! I see fur!! I am excited for the weather to cool down!!

So many great outfits here! it’s a shame virtual fashion week wasn’t as popular or covered as much as the ones in person but I think street style is a big part of it – while I couldn’t afford or pull off a lot of the runway outfits I love seeing how people dress for the shows! I’m starting to find a bit of overkill with all the online things too – it would be good to have a break from all the live streams and zooms and things, haha!
