Shopping My Closet and A Day at the Shore

Nothing is new here, I shopped my closet for this whole look. A good a majority of if is from H&M the skirt, bag and shoes to be exact. The top is from Gap and the sunnies are from Mandee. I wore this on a super hot day, though with the breeze it did get a bit cooler along the water and the distressed denim jacket which my regular readers have seen before is from I Love H81 came in handy. The skirt is super light and keeps me cool which is one of the reasons I bought it. I don’t buy a lot of fast fashion but when I do it tends happen more often in the summer months.

On this day my friend and I headed to the water front to cool down and we had a great time shooting this. I almost fell in to the reeds a few times. It was quite windy and I loved the sound they made. I have too say this is one of the things I love about this area of the county; you can be close to a huge metropolis like NYC and then have quaint quite towns to escape to, and beautiful shorelines. The only downside is the high cost of living, hence my preloved and occasional fast fashion shopping. And another way to save money is to shop your closet. I even found a “new” top I have yet to wear! That will be coming up in future post, so stay tuned!

The ambiance and the OOTD is just perfect. You definitely wore the occasion.
I agree with you on the cost of living in NYC. I like the beautiful night scene of NYC but the fast pace, I think I can only take so much before I go crazy.

What a beautiful skirt! Your outfit seems so perfect for a breezy summer day too! 🙂 I agree, it’s interesting how many outfits we can come up with in our wardrobes! I calculated it when i did a closet inventory, and assuming I would wear each dress once and each top with one of the pairs of bottoms (skirt or shorts or pants or jeans) I have literal years of outfits! really helps when I have the urge to shop – although i still buy things now and then, haha!

Hope that you had a wonderful weekend 🙂

I just posted my weekday wear linkup, I’d love you to join! 🙂

That breeze near the water must have felt nice. Wow, those reeds look tall.
The colour, patterned leaf print, layered ruffles and light fabric of the H+M skirt look very pretty.
Your H+M skirt looks fabulous styled with the white V-neck Gap top and vintage blue denim jacket.

One way to be more sustainable is to shop our own closets and it’s a practice that I’ve adopted over the years as well. just got to make sure not to gain or lose too much weight for it to work though ;p You pulled together an effortlessly chic look. I love the skirt. Fast fashion can work if we stick to pieces that aren’t too trendy but have fun details.

These pictures are so pretty and that outfit is so good! Love the patterned skrit and the simple white t-shirt. So stylish to break the look off with some denim too. Love this! Xx

I love how fun the city life can be, but I also genuinely enjoy being exposed to more nature the older I get as well. That’s nice that you get a taste of both worlds.

Shopping my closet is my favourite things to do for a number of reasons. I honestly find it easier to work with what I have because I feel like I ‘know’ my closet pretty well and it is fun when you discover something anew.
This is a beautiful skirt and you have styled it so well. Love those slip ons and the bag. The denim jacket and the top is a great pairing as well. You look fantastic!
The location and the photography are wonderful…such a precious spot. Escaping the city heat is a must in the summer.

Re-mixing and matching old clothes is always the key! Buying new clothes every season can get a little expensive too. So, I think it’s nice to be able to look through one’s closet and find some treasures that are hiding in there or have never been worn before. In your case, I am loving the leafy print skirt with the ruffles… oh so chic! – http://www.jamilakyari.com

I love breezy maxis for summer and yours is beautiful! I really like pairing denim jackets with things that don’t seem to go with them, too. You’ve inspired me to pull out my two denim jackets and pair them with the bottoms and tops in my closet to see what combinations I can come up with. I suspect there are one or two items in my closet that I haven’t worn yet, too :/
