I’am sure many of you have heard the buzz about Saks Potts. An unusual name for an eclectic fashion house that is having a moment thanks to Kendall Jenner. I can see why she loves the brand. The retro vibe, standout saturated pastels and an unabashed sense of decadence is irresistible. Who doesn’t want to be Holly Golightly for a day. Strolling through the streets dressed to the nines, having breakfast at Tiffany’s with a dashing lover. A throwback to another era with all of it’s grace and romance.
And let’s all take a moment to pay homage to a time when things were slower and people took the time to really look. And the creation of art and beauty was respected and revered. No liking, clicking or scrolling. Just time to really look and the time to really read. I feel at times a nostalgia for true talent, and not being bombarded by the latest Instagram star of the moment. And lucky for me I got to experience this for the briefest of moments.
when I suddenly saw a few paces in front of me the form of Grace Coddington
The other day I was walking down the street in mid-town Manhattan returning from a meeting with a fellow photographer when I suddenly saw a few paces in front of me the form of Grace Coddington! I could not believe my eyes. The moment happened very quickly. We made eye contact and by the time I knew it was her for sure she passed. I missed my opportunity to tell her how great she is. Sigh. So lets all take a moment to remember that there was a time before “social” media when art in fashion was truly known.1
