Stepping out in another pre-loved beauty I picked up recently. I actually picked this dress up at Housing Works on Memorial day Weekend. I was visiting with Elle of the Elle Diaries and she let me know that they were having a forty percent off sale, so it was a no brainer that we would be hitting up this second hand establishment tout de suite.
I also got a black blazer from Theory and a pair of wide let slacks from Ann Taylor. This dress is a mock wrap dress and is from Sunner. I love the navy color and the ruffle details. The material is a light satin and is super cool for the hot humid days this part the country is known for. I felt like I was wearing almost nothing which was a good thing as it was quite hot on the day that I wore this dress. It was nice to feel so cool and unencumbered.
I paired it with the minimalist saddle bag that I got at Gap last summer and these fun And Other Stories tassel sandals which I also bought last summer. The sunnies are new and I purchased them from a local store in Port Jefferson on the same day I shot these photos. I loved the eighties vibe and I wanted another pair of white sunnies.
With the blazing heat I had to put my hair up and did a quick twist back and then put it in a pony. So much easier then trying to braid it. Truly it took me no time at all. I am all thumbs when it comes to braiding my hair.
My friend and I headed to a town on the north shore of Long Island called Port Jefferson which most people refer to as Port Jeff. It is a quaint sea side town with an old time vibe featuring many historical turn of the century buildings. There are lots of shops and places to get a bite and there is lovely park right on the water where you can watch the ferries coming and going from Connecticut
My friend Laurie and I strolled about the town, shopped a bit and had dinner at one of the local eateries and then we sat in park along the shore and did indeed watch the ferries crossing the sound on their way to Connecticut. Maybe one of these days we will hop on board one of those ferries for a day trip to Connecticut. How do you spend your summer weekends? And what was the last pre-loved item you bought?
