Pre-Loved Blue Satin Dress For Summer

Stepping out in another pre-loved beauty I picked up recently. I actually picked this dress up at Housing Works on Memorial day Weekend. I was visiting with Elle of the Elle Diaries and she let me know that they were having a forty percent off sale, so it was a no brainer that we would be hitting up this second hand establishment tout de suite.

I also got a black blazer from Theory and a pair of wide let slacks from Ann Taylor. This dress is a mock wrap dress and is from Sunner. I love the navy color and the ruffle details. The material is a light satin and is super cool for the hot humid days this part the country is known for. I felt like I was wearing almost nothing which was a good thing as it was quite hot on the day that I wore this dress. It was nice to feel so cool and unencumbered.

I paired it with the minimalist saddle bag that I got at Gap last summer and these fun And Other Stories tassel sandals which I also bought last summer. The sunnies are new and I purchased them from a local store in Port Jefferson on the same day I shot these photos. I loved the eighties vibe and I wanted another pair of white sunnies.

With the blazing heat I had to put my hair up and did a quick twist back and then put it in a pony. So much easier then trying to braid it. Truly it took me no time at all. I am all thumbs when it comes to braiding my hair.

My friend and I headed to a town on the north shore of Long Island called Port Jefferson which most people refer to as Port Jeff. It is a quaint sea side town with an old time vibe featuring many historical turn of the century buildings. There are lots of shops and places to get a bite and there is lovely park right on the water where you can watch the ferries coming and going from Connecticut

My friend Laurie and I strolled about the town, shopped a bit and had dinner at one of the local eateries and then we sat in park along the shore and did indeed watch the ferries crossing the sound on their way to Connecticut. Maybe one of these days we will hop on board one of those ferries for a day trip to Connecticut. How do you spend your summer weekends? And what was the last pre-loved item you bought?

You look fabulous rocking that Sunner dress!
I love the ruffles and love the outfit photos you took in Port Jefferson.
I don’t remember the last pre-owned outfit piece I bought,
but am thinking of changing that this year.
I do like ferry boat rides!

Love this pretty dress, your sunnies and necklace. Such a cute outfit for a day out with your friend. Shopping for pre-owned clothes is the best because it’s good for the world and you can get items that no one else is wearing.

What a great buy! The feminine silhouette and ruffle details are summer perfect and the dress looks fab on you Allie! We’ve been hanging out down by the pier on South Street Seaport more this summer. There’s so much going on down there again.

Loooove the ruffle neckline of your dress! I’m like you – all thumbs when it comes to braiding. I get mine professionally done but that’s often a more complex style. I’d love to be able to do simple big cornrows on my own, tisgh.
At the moment, what I love to do on my summer weekends is travel out of Berlin, go to another European city and attend a festival. I get to see my fav acts live, get introduced to new music, meet/see interesting people, festival fashion is also fun for me, get introduced to a new city, have self-care in the hotel via long candle-lit baths etc.
Wishing you a lovely week ahead! Xx

You look great with the ruffle dress and the saddle bag.
    Enjoy your trip to Connecticut!

That dress is gorgeous on you. Love it more because it is pre-owned. I wish I had that kind of luck when looking through thrift stores. BTW I am also sh***y when it comes to braids. Hair period. I am hopeless. Even a low bun, even with hair extensions to beef up my fine hair, I still can’t get it right. I even brought this snap-band thing off ebay once that helps you get that donut shape and yet I still manage to get it wrong hahaha!

You look great, I love the dress and the ruffle details! I used to shop pre-loved all the time since there was a great store near my old workplace, and now I’ll occasionally browse eBay, but it’s harder without being able to try things on in person.

Such a cute summer dress! I like the ruffles and the classic navy means it will be so wearable with so many things! I haven’t been opshopping (thrifting) in a while – but I’m not really needing any winter stuff at the moment! I hope to get back to it when the weather warms up and no buy July is over, haha!

Hope that your week is going well 🙂

This is such a pretty summer wrap dress.
The last items I bought second hand are the ones I am wearing in the post today: Kenzo cactus print dress and an Etro bag.
    Both were great finds.
