NYFW With Flying Solo Part one

This was my least busy Fashion Week to date. Between COVID, my mom’s passing and the multiple snow storms I was not up for much. And with the pandemic and the challenging weather, the season overall was slow. But I did get to the Flying Solo shows there were six in total and I stayed for all of them, though it was freezing out and we were on a rooftop. And the models oh boy, they deserve an award for braving that level of cold wearing clothing that was meant for the tropics. They serious looked cold. But that is life or a working model. And stay tuned for part two…

  1. I am sorry for your mother, and I hope you are well. Being a model must be complicated when it is a show of clothes from a different season.

    1. They were for sure!

  8. This worked out weirdly well for the brand. The urban streetstyle goes so well with the rooftop city background. Although I am sure the models , and you all FROZE.

    1. Thanks doll, yes I did stick it out, but can’t complain at least I got to wear a coat, which I burned standing too close to the heater…

  10. That was courageous of you, braving the cold while still mourning your mum’s passing
    to bring us this amazing view of the haute couture being showcased at a NYC rooftop locale due to Covid.
    Kudos, and thank you for bring us this treat to watch of a video.
    The necklace you were wearing (at 2:36 of the video) looks pretty.
    Among the many designs I especially love the looks of are:
    the hot deep neon pink chiffon dress with ruffle detail at 0:00 of your video;
    the white off-shoulder mini-dress at 0:23;
    the flowy white dress+flowy black dress at 4:10 and 4:18;
    the risqué mocha dresses on the left side at 8:39 and 8:44;
    the hot pink dress at 10:44.
    I love all of the designs showcased between 13:06 and 13:59 of the video.
    That must have been cold modelling those bathing suits (featured from 14:53 through 15:53 of the video).
    I also liked the palm-tree print midi-dress styled with orange tights and choker at 20:43.
    As you said, those brave models really did bring it,
    modelling summer designs outside in winter atop a building in Manhattan… yikes!!!
    Covering it as beautifully as you did took courage as well.
    xx

    1. Thank you so much, so glad you enjoyed it and got so much of out of it. Stay tuned for part 2!

  11. Oh wow, I thought the shows were just digital with no people there! You are way more dedicated than I. The freezing cold would be the end of me! Thanks for posting the show, so fun. xo

    1. Yes sometimes you have to suffer for your passion lol. Glad you liked it!

  12. it’s nice you got to go to the shows and enjoy the fashion even if the spring fashion was out of place when you were so cold! You got some great action shots although I agree those poor models in those little playsuits must have been so cold! they walked well still though!

    Hope that your week is going well 🙂

    1. Yes it was great to but indeed it was COLD!

  13. I’m glad you got to go. Have a great day. ?

    1. I know it was nuts lol, you can tell that some are SUPER cold.

  19. The designs are absolutely gorgeous! I hope that you are doing well Allie.

    1. Thank you, taking it one day at a time and yes some great designs for sure.

  20. Beautiful filming and editing Allie. Such a professional video! The clothes are beautiful but I do feel bad for the models, they must have been cold. It even looked a bit windy there up at the rooftop. When that model walked out in a pink bikini…she must have been freezing. I wanted to throw a coat over her. 🙂 On the other hand, it is reassuring to see a fashion show, it feels like life is returning to normal.
    Have a nice day!

    1. Thank you! I did not do all the filming it was filmed by FS, they sent me the footage which I edited. Yes being there in person I can attest it as COLD! I hope all the models headed off to the tropics.

  21. Yes, they deserved a prize! But like you said that is life model!! The clothes are amazing!

  24. Loved watching this video, Allie! I can’t imagine the whirlwind you were going through at the time, so much happening all at once and a whole new way of doing fashion week due to Covid. I’m so glad you got to go to this show though, and it was really neat on the rooftop! I imagine they were freezing though!

    Make Life Marvelous

  25. Yikes! I must commend both the models and the audience for braving this winter weather!

  26. I love when you take us to the fashion week.
    I love your red glasses here and I’ve spotted so many cool outfits to theses fashion show.
    But I feel so cold for theses poor models in swimsuit when I see the guests having a blanket to cover them.
    And the editing of this video is amazing.

    1. I know I did too! I have been watching old episodes of ANTM and in the first season there is a shoot for bathing suits on a rooftop in winter, I remember thinking that OK that is a bit of an exaggeration but I guess not!

  27. Nice that you got to see some shows, but I will never understand why they choose such venues when they know how the weather is going to be…
    have a great week,
    S

    1. The shows are usually indoor, the last two seasons the shows were held out of doors on the rooftop because of COVID.

  28. Love the video and the bus of you shopping us what happened. I feel like I’m getting insider information. I love that.
    You’re a trooper! The weather look excruciating! And those models are not from this world! The fact that they can wear such outfits and still look so bomb is a talent that should be admired! Modelling is such a underrated job in terms of skill.
    Thanks again!

    1. That is great! That is the goal. I agree modeling is underrated it is harder than it look, this is one of the reasons Tyra started ANTM to show that it does indeed require skill.

    1. It was LOL!

  29. Great vlog ❤

  30. i watched the video and I subscribed to your channel as well.

  32. Hey Allie, how you doing? I am happy to see some FW action on your blog.

    I know this is not the best time for people who love to see a runway, but at least we’re getting some bits and some hope for the upcoming seasons. I imagine it was quite difficult for the models to walk on a rooftop in mid-February, so cold!

    Anyway I loved to see some glamour and it made me realize I really miss FW news, as you said the season is a bit steady. I noticed that this collection showed a lot of comfortable and loose clothes, but in colorful and not boring combinations, probably due to the recent evens? I don’t know but it seems that all this madness set a few new rules for the fashion game.

    I hope your personal situation can get a little better with time, sending you my best wishes overseas 🙂

    Beijos.
