Happy Christmas to you and what to gift yourself this holiday season

Last week I wrote about a fragrance set I gifted to myself and this week I am writing about a gift set I would gift to myself if I already didn’t own a 50 mm lens. Late last spring I purchased Canons 50 mm f1.4 lens which is known for it’s better bokah and color clarity then the 50 mm f1.8 but really the f1.8 is a wonderful lens and does a phenomenal job and is probably the most poplar lens among fashion bloggers. And with it’s affordable price tag and excellent results I can see why.

This past fall went I went to Paris I only took my 50 mm lens and although great for portraits and street style, it is not so good for travel photos due to it being a semi telephoto lens which is why it is considered a portrait lens. In lieu of this I am in the market for a wide angle lens, and while the kit lens that came with my camera is decent, I am looking for something that is a bit better.

You are basically getting the 50MM lens for free

From my research I discovered that the Canon EFS 10-18 wide-angle zoom lens is the affordable go to lens for travel photography. And to my chagrin I stumbled upon this set from Canon being sold at Adorama. For $319 you get both the EFS 10-18MM lens and the 50MM f1.8. The 10-18MM lens retails for about $279 and the 50MM f1.8 sells for a little over a hundred dollars so this is quite the deal.

I am kind of kicking myself now, I wish I had known about this set back in the spring, but oh well, live and learn. But for any of you that own a Canon camera and are thinking of taking your photography to the next level but are confused about lenses, then this is the set to get. You are basically getting the 50MM lens for free. Cool right? You can learn more at Adoram.com. And happy snapping!

This lens kit is a fantastic deal and value. If I were in the market for lenses, I’d definitely consider it. Adorama is one of my favorite places to shop for photo equipment. The sales people are knowledgeable and helpful too.

Good lenses are important and once you have a new one, you’ll find yourself using it more than you thought. Get that wide-angle.

Ah this would be the perfect gift for myself since my camera broke. I’ve been saving for a new one but still manage to spend the money on something else more important. When I finally get a new camera, It wouldn’t hurt to get a new lens. 🙂
