Fashion Week is next week and with it comes excitement, creativity, beauty, chaos and a wee bit of controversy. As reported by The Guardian, Suzy Menkes created quite a stir last September when she said that fashion bloggers were “peacocks” and created a circus like atmosphere at events, which took the attention away from the reason everyone is there—the clothes. Wether you agree with her or not, attendance is going to be a lot tighter this season. But in the coming years this may be a non issue. With the digital age firmly entrenched, and the huge uptick in the use of social media, future Fashion Week events could all take place online. What do you think of that? How would you feel if there were no more tents, and anyone and everyone with a computer could attend? And do you think fashion bloggers have a place at fashion week? And Rachel is not the only one doing a bit of departing. Zac Posen will be showing at NYFW, he will just not be doing it at Lincoln Center. According to page six, Zac Posen will be unveiling this seasons collection in his Laight Street Studio in Tribeca. To read more about this head on over to all that is news in fashion—Fashionista.com
So, are any of you attending Fashion Week? If so, do you find the “peacocking” to be too much? Do you think too many people use Fashion Week for shameless self promotion? Or, do you think it has been a good thing and helped to make fashion less elitist? Or has it?
