Ilove when hard work is rewarded, and when talent is recognized. And today it seems that fashion is celebrating a new era in which the idea of being “inclusive” and welcoming is the new way of doing business. OK, I may be a wee bit naive in this belief, but there are so many ways for new designers to make their mark and get noticed in this day and age, and supportive organizations that reward young, hard working, designers is certainly one of the best ways to get noticed as an up and coming designer. From the CFDA to Nolcha Fashion Week, to city centric inspired events, young designers today have many avenues to pursue on their way to success. And in 2010 the Mediterranean Fashion Prize was launched by the Maison Méditerranéenne des Métiers de la Mode as a way to showcase and support young design talent from 19 Mediterranean countries. The Maison Méditerranéenne des Métiers de la Mode and the MFP are supported by such international luminaries as Chanal, Longchamp and Dior among others. And today I am super happy to announce that the design duo behind the fashion house Charles & Ron, which I featured in this Lookbook Friday post were recently selected as winners of the Mediterranean Fashion Prize. They were selected by an international jury, and they will also have the possible opportunity to participate in the Mediterranean Biennial of Fashion 2016. Insert applause! In May Charles & Ron will travel to Marseille where at the Villa Mediterranee they will meet with buyers, fashion connected experts and international media. So I would venture to say we will be hearing much more from this talented pair of designers.
